Nursery Rhymes Ages 0 2 Video : Nursery Rhymes [1982]

Nursery Rhymes [1982]

Never tire of it! - Our two girls, now aged 25 and 23, loved this video and now our ten-month-old grandson sits entranced through it after lunch each week, when he comes to us for the day. I must have watched it more than 50 times over the years, but I never tire of it. The musical quality is very high, the children s singing is tuneful and they obviously enjoyed acting in it. The animation may not be high tech, but it s inventive and fun. Wonderful!

A timeless classic - absolutely brilliant - We always strive to find wholesome entertainment for our kids that doesn t drive us-adults nuts through cynicism, shmaltziness, synthesized music or some bias - and this is it. An excellent collection of nursery rhymes with animation and illustration that grips kids and a quality of musical performance (vocal and instrumental) that would make a great standalone audio-CD. I never really like Isla St. Clair until I heard her on this recording but here she is excellent, Martin Carthy is brilliant and the instrumental scoring (with early music instruments) is just top-notch. I live in Portland, OR in the USA and would encourage Longman or whoever holds the rights to this material to put out both a DVD and CD to preserve this for posterity.

Brilliant! - I picked this up by accident in a local charity shop, and put it on with some trepidation. In fact, it is much better than expected. The visuals are ancient, but this crudeness adds to the nostalgia value I think. The music is brilliantly performed, and it is refreshing to hear people singing in tune on children s videos. The nursery rhymes are all of the old fashioned ones from our own youth. Some of them are rather grim, Tommy Flynn putting a cat down a well for example. But I am glad they haven t glossed over these old favourites, to be PC or over-sensitive. Some of the images they use are from old Nursery Rhyme illustrations by Caldecott and Evans, some are more basic, and some of the nursery rhymes are performed by child actors, but it is all done tastefully, and without the knowing cynicism of modern productions. My daughter (18 months) loves this, and because the music is of such high quality I like having it on too. If they produced this in DVD I would go out and buy several, for every parent I know.

The best nursery rhyme video I ve seen - The one poor review of this video is an abberation, despite being 22 years old this is, quite simply, still the best nursery rhyme video I have seen (and I ve seen a lot!) Still my children s favourite. If you can get hold of a copy, do so. You will not regret it.

Still Captivated - I bought this Video in 1987 when my children were aged two and three. I danced around to the music with the children and now they are both young men they still remember the nursery rhymes on the video and how the characters were acted out, especially Aiken Drum, with his hair of spaghetti. I had many many hours of interactive fun with my children. I unfortunately mislaid the video whilst moving to a new house and sometimes we find ourselves singing one of the songs from the video, therefore I have searched shops to find it again but no luck until now. Hey diddle diddle I m over the moon!!Thanks Amazon
